Audience for October 12 episode of NXT Revealed

Last night at the end of WWE NXT 2.0, the North American Championship changed hands, but did the title change help the audience? Well, it certainly didn’t hurt.

According to Showbuzz Daily, this week’s edition of WWE NXT 2.0 drew 632,000 viewers, which is on par with last week’s number. Considering that NXT had to deal with the MLB Playoffs the night before, not losing anyone from their audience from last week is very impressive.

It will be interesting to see what WWE NXT 2.0 does in two weeks for its Halloween Havoc special, one of the brand’s most watched shows in 2020.

WWE NXT 2.0 ranked 33rd overall on cable on Tuesday

With respect to the all-important 18-49 demo, WWE NXT 2.0 also saw a slight increase from 0.13 to 0.15 last week. While the audience was stable this week, the show increased.

This certainly seems to confirm last week’s theory that the old black and gold brand has found its prime audience number. Whether it goes up or down from here, it will most likely depend on the direction of the program as we proceed.

Last week, WWE NXT 2.0 ranked 34th on cable for Wednesday. This week, they rose to 33rd on cable. At this point, an increase, however small, should be considered positive.

WWE NXT 2.0 opened last night with a surprisingly long match between Joe Gacy and NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa. If Gacy defeated Ciampa, they would add him to the NXT title match at Halloween Havoc, making him a triple threat.

The main event of the night saw Santos Escobar challenge Isaiah “Swerve” Scott for the NXT North American Championship in what was likely the latter’s last appearance on the brand. Scott managed to retain his title.

However, there was a slight twist in history when Carmelo Hayes cashed in on the Breakout Tournament winner’s contract to dethrone Swerve and become the new North American Champion.
