Cristiano Ronaldo has been setting new records left and right in 2021, seemingly with every goal he scores. With his hat trick against Luxembourg on October 12, he added another to the list.

Since Euro 2021 this summer, the 36-year-old has been racking up milestones in action with Portugal. He has since moved to Manchester United, where he was named Premier League Player of the Month in September and is also a finalist for the FIFA Ballon d’Or.

His three goals against Luxembourg gave him the 10th hat trick of his career with Portugal, who is now the most by a single male player on the international stage:

Ronaldo’s record for international goals

Ronaldo set the all-time men’s international scoring record by scoring two goals in Portugal’s World Cup qualifying victory over the Republic of Ireland on September 1. a draw with Ali Daei of Iran on 109 goals at the top of the all-time charts.

The Portuguese legend officially set the mark when he scored his first with a minute left in injury time to tie the score at 1-1 at the Algarve Stadium. It came with an assist from Goncalo Guedes in the 89th minute, when Ronaldo found the center with a perfectly placed header.

He doubled his performance on the night with a second final in the 96th minute and the winner sealed a 2-1 victory for Portugal.

She may hold the men’s record, but there are several women who have the most goals: Canadian legend Christine Sinclair holds the all-time mark with 186 goals, followed by Abby Wambach (184) and Mia Hamm (158).
