France 24 receives the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, on the sidelines of his meeting with President Macron in Paris on October 15. “The page on drug trafficking has been turned,” said the head of state, whose country was long considered a hub for cocaine and other hard drugs. Umaro Sissoco Embaló also denied any preparations for a coup against him.

The president invoked a “misinterpretation” of the remarks made by the head of the Bissau-Guinean army to the military police on October 14. He then declared to have identified a “group of soldiers aiming to subvert the established constitutional order”.
