Six successes in six decades in duet with Dua Lipa give Elton John the UK premiere

Elton John became the first musical group to reach the UK top 10 in six different decades. The single Cold Heart is a duet with singer Dua Lipa. It was remixed by an Australian electronic dance duo named Pnau. The song was filed in September, but this week looks likely to steal the top spot from Ed Sheeran.

The incredible feat was made possible by John’s Christmas song, Step Into Christmas, which made the very last charts of 2020. It usually makes the top 40 every holiday season and, in this case, has arrived. just high enough to count, at # 10.

The majority of John’s hits came in the ’70s with his distinctive sound that won him a legion of fans. Its heights came with songs such as Rocket Man, Your Song, and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Over the following decades, many of his chart offerings were also collaborations, mixing his sound with others for chart success.

The record that John now holds gives him a head start over some big names. Elvis, Cher, Michael Jackson and David Bowie have reached the top 10 in five different decades. He is releasing a new album on October 22 which includes duets created on Zoom. At the end of the summer, John suffered a fall which resulted in a hip replacement. This forced a postponement of his UK farewell tour dates to 22. They will now take place in April 2023.
