France: faced with dematerialization, the Marianne of postage stamps bows out

The use of the postage stamp is in free fall in France, in favor of the dematerialization of the means of communication. In Périgord, the country’s last stamp factory is preparing to say goodbye to its flagship model, the red stamp adorned with a Marianne. La Poste will indeed remove it next year and replace it with a digital model. It will be necessary to retrieve an eight-character alphanumeric code online, which will suffice to be copied on the card or envelope. Faced with these changes, the Philaposte factory is trying to find ways to renew itself, and to continue to bring the postage stamp to life.
