Indian field coach R Sridhar wrote an emotional note on his Instagram account as he takes over what will be his last assignment with the men’s cricket team at the ICC T20 World Cup.

The T20 marquee event will be the last hurray for the Indian coaching staff with Head Coach Ravi Shastri, Bowling Coach Bharat Arun and Sridhar all set to make way for a new team.

On his Instagram account, Sridhar wrote that he was extremely fortunate to coach and interact with ‘incredibly talented cricketers’. The former Hyderabad player stated that the relationship he fostered and the memories he made with the Indian team will remain with him for “a lifetime and beyond.”

Sridhar wrote:

“I was fortunate to train and interact with incredibly talented cricketers and help them unleash their full potential. I fostered lasting relationships and created memories that I will treasure for a lifetime and beyond.”

Sridhar added that he accomplished his job with “passion, sincerity and commitment” to the best of his ability. He wrote that while he made occasional mistakes, he made sure the team was in a better place. Sridhar continued:

“I think I have done my job with passion, sincerity, commitment and to the best of my abilities. Yes, occasional mistakes were made, but every mistake was used to make the team a better place.”

While Rahul Dravid and his trusted lieutenant Paras Mhambrey are poised to succeed Shastri and Arun, the BCCI has yet to make a final decision on Sridhar’s replacement.

Sridhar, who took over as India’s fielding coach in 2014, expressed his gratitude to BCCI for allowing him to serve the national team. He wrote:

“As I walk towards my final assignment as the field coach of the Indian cricket team, I would like to thank BCCI for allowing me to serve the Indian cricket team from 2014 to 2021.”

He also thanked Coach Ravi Shastri for being an inspiring leader and mentor, while expressing his sincere gratitude to employers MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli for their trust and faith. Sridhar continued:

“A special thanks to Officer Ravi Shastri, an inspiring leader and mentor to whom I owe this. Also many, many thanks to Captains @ mahi7781 (Dhoni) and Virat Kohli for exhibiting their faith, trust and faith in me.”

Sridhar said his goodbyes acknowledging the support of substitute employers such as Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, former coach Anil Kumble and the rest of the support staff he worked with during his tenure. He concluded:
