India reports 2.68 Lakh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours; Omicron Tally Surpasses 6,000

India saw a single-day jump of 2,68,833 new coronavirus infections, more than 4,000 more than yesterday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 3,68,50,962, including 6,041 case of the Omicron variant, according to the Union Health Department. data updated Saturday. Active cases rose to 14, 17,820, while the death toll rose to 48, 57, 52 with 402 new deaths, according to data updated as of 8 a.m. Active cases account for 3.85 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 cure rate has declined to 94.83 percent, the ministry said.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease jumped to 3,49,47,390, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.32%. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign have exceeded 156.02 crores.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It crossed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and broke above the crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.
