Although Andrew has lost his military titles and the use of HRH, Sarah Ferguson will remain a Duchess

Yesterday, Thursday January 13, Prince Andrew was stripped of all his military titles by the Queen. This includes that he can no longer use the title of His Royal Highness. Despite this, his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, 62, remains a duchess.

One of Sarah’s friends told the Daily mail, “It’s been his title since their divorce, and that’s how it’s going to stay. Andrew is still the Duke of York, so that’s not a problem”.

“Sarah has absolutely no intention of stepping out of the spotlight. Why should she? She and her daughters have done nothing wrong, and they 100% believe Andrew has done nothing wrong either added another friend of Sarah.

As a writer, Sarah has used her title to help promote her books, and her Twitter account is “SarahTheDuchess”.

If she remarries, Sarah would lose her title. Andrew and Sarah’s two daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, retain their titles of Princess and Royal Highness respectively.

Both girls tend to use the names Beatrice and Eugenie York in their day-to-day business pursuits. Normally, they are only mentioned by their royal titles in official bulletins such as the Court Circular.

The title of Duke of York is of great importance to the Queen. It is a title that is traditionally given to the second son of a monarch. His father George VI held him, as did George V, his grandfather. When Andrew married Sarah in 1986, the Queen granted him the title, as reported dailymail.co.uk.
