Shardul Thakur intervenes amid doubts about Hardik Pandya’s bowling alley
India had named just three pacemakers in its starting 15-man squad, with Hardik Pandya there as an off-road bowling alley.
However, Pandya did not throw a single delivery in the entire 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL), raising concerns about his ability to shoot the ball in the main event.
Shardul Thakur, meanwhile, continued his fine form for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, collecting 18 wickets in 15 matches so far. More than the amount of scalps, Thakur has shown that he can gain important ground and break crucial associations time and time again.
He’s also skilled with the bat and can score quick runs on the order if need be, increasing India’s depth in the department.
India will begin its T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rival Pakistan on October 24.
