WBAL in Baltimore reports:
A federal grand jury issued the indictment Thursday indicting Mosby on federal charges of perjury and making false mortgage applications related to the purchase of two Florida vacation homes.
According to the four-count indictment, on May 26, 2020 and December 29, 2020, Mosby filed “Coronavirus 457 (b) Related Distribution Requests” for one-time withdrawals of $ 40,000 and $ 50,000, respectively, from the City of Baltimore Deferred Compensation Plans.
Prosecutors said that, in each application, the prosecution alleges that Mosby falsely certified that he met at least one of the requirements for a distribution as defined in the CARES Act, specifically, that he experienced adverse financial consequences stemming from the coronavirus as a result of “ being quarantined, suspended or fired ”or“ having reduced work hours ”or“ not being able to work due to lack of childcare or “closing or reducing the hours of a business that I own or operate”.
By signing the forms, Mosby “affirmed (affirmed) under penalty of perjury the statements and acknowledgments made in this application.” The indictment alleges that Mosby did not experience such financial hardship and, in fact, his 2020 gross salary was $ 247,955.58 and was never reduced: “Instead of experiencing a reduction in earnings in 2020, Mosby’s 2020 gross salary increased. above your gross salary. ” in 2019, which was $ 238,772.04 “.
