the parliamentary shuttle resumes for lack of agreement between deputies and senators – RT in French

After more than four hours of meeting, the parliamentarians finally failed to find an agreement on the bill establishing the vaccination pass, which will have to redo the shuttle between the Assembly and the Senate for its final adoption.

No agreement was found on January 13 between the deputies and the senators within the joint committee concerning the draft law on the vaccination pass, the parliamentary shuttle therefore resumes.

“We had obtained an agreement in principle” on a common text, but a tweet before the end of the meeting of the boss of senators The Republicans (LR) Bruno Retailleau, evoking a “victory of common sense” of his own, brought “a intolerable attack ”to the functioning of Parliament, denounced to the press the president of the Committee on Laws of the Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet (La République en Marche – LREM).

Bruno Retailleau had tweeted that the mixed committee of deputies-senators, in which he did not participate, had “agreed with the Senate” and that “the pass is intended to protect the French and nothing else … no offense to Emmanuel Macron ”.

Yaël Braun-Pivet retorted working “not to win or lose, but [bien] to protect the French ”.

The agreement seemed close, however, despite the significantly different versions voted on at first reading by the Assembly a week ago, and by the Senate dominated by the right on the night of January 12 to 13.

“The modifications proposed by the Senate had only one objective: to allow an agreement within the LR”, according to the leader of the LREM deputies Christophe Castaner.

The deputies must deliver the book on the trade from January 13 in the evening in committee, then on the 14 in the hemicycle.

After a new reading in the upper house, the Assembly will have the last word, possibly during the weekend or at the beginning of the week.

Faced with Covid-19, which even reached the Minister of Health Olivier Véran on January 13, the government hopes for the vaccination pass to come into force around January 20, subject to possible recourse to the Constitutional Council.
