Several thousand opponents gathered today in the center of Tbilisi to demand the release of former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, who was arrested on October 1 after clandestinely entering the country.
The concentration was called by the United National Movement (MNU), founded by the ex-president, currently a citizen of Ukraine, who is being held in a prison in the city of Rustavi, about 30 kilometers southwest of the Georgian capital, where he declared in hunger strike.
