We want an FTA that benefits both India and the UK, says Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan

India and the UK have officially launched negotiations for a free trade agreement between the two countries.

Trade Minister Piyush Goyal held talks with UK Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan in New Delhi. The two sides will work to quickly conclude an FTA that could double bilateral trade by 2030 and an interim trade agreement will also be considered.

Goyal said India and the UK will also work to remove non-tariff barriers and increase market access.

The first round of negotiations between India and the UK will start on January 17.

To discuss the outlook for bilateral trade between India and the UK, CNBC-TV18 spoke with Anne-Marie Trevelyan, UK International Trade Secretary.
