Young sisters seriously injured after head-on collision

Young sisters seriously injured after a head-on collision on the Costa Blanca.

The accident happened on the road from La Marina to Elche. One of the sisters went into cardiac arrest. The medical services were able to resuscitate her. She was rushed to Alicante General Hospital.

The two 9-year-old sisters were injured along with four other people in the crash. The accident happened at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU).

The accident happened on the CV-853 road, in La Hoya, at the roundabout of La Marina, in Elche.

According to firefighters, two vehicles collided head-on. A couple were traveling in a vehicle. The two sisters were traveling in the other vehicle with their parents.

Once the emergency services were alerted to the accident, a medical helicopter as well as two SAMU units, an SVA treatment unit and three SVB units were deployed on the scene.

The other sister suffered from abdominal trauma. She was also taken to Alicante General Hospital.

A 50-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were transferred to Elche General Hospital for treatment.

A 42-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man were taken to Vinalopó hospital in Elche.
